This example from 1978 has aged into something that demands attention. The textured white surface of the ‘Buckley’ step-dial has settled into an even, warm ‘panna’ cream throughout, the large black Roman numerals reading crisply against it. In addition to the story is the lume plots: big, puffy, and deeply patinated to a vivid pumpkin orange that presses hard against the off-white ground and the black numerals in a three-way contrast that feels almost designed. But it wasn’t — it actually took decades of natural aging. The stainless steel fluted bezel is crisp. The stainless steel case is strong, featuring thick lugs and sharp edges present, with normal wear for its age. The black hands are later service parts from a 5-digit white Buckley Datejust — period-correct in character if not in origin, and entirely coherent on the dial. It rides on a Jubilee 6251H folded-links bracelet with light stretch consistent with its age.
Some dials age gracefully. This one aged with intention.
